PURPOSE: A maintenance/record method and apparatus of record image in time lapse VCR is provided to secure evidence of invader. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of: confirming time lapse set mode from user(S11), computing record stand-by time and performing record according to the record stand-by time(S13), remaining image signal data stored in field memory when eject key is operated during record(S15, S17), recording the data stored in the field memory when memory copy key is operated(S19¯S29). Thereby it is possible to secure evidence of invader even if the invader taken away record tape.
