PURPOSE: A cash drawer surveillance method of a receipt printer is provided to inform a cash register if a cash drawer connected with a receipt printer to use is open for a certain time. CONSTITUTION: The cash drawer control method of a receipt printer comprises the steps of: sensing whether the door of the cash drawer is opened or closed if the cash drawer is judged to be in a state of connection; counting how long the cash drawer is opened when judging that the cash drawer is open as a result of sensing; informing ECR of a generation of an abnormal operation if the time of the cash drawer's opening is over a certain standard time after comparing the counted time with a certain standard time.
