PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile equipment for adjusting a parameters to be set based on a line quality, that is performed usually before the time of communication, after the communication is started. SOLUTION: A caller number is notified before starting the communication (step S31) and whether or not a line quality result at the previous time reception of the pertinent caller number is present is decided (step S32). When the line quality result is not present, the reception is started normally, however, in the case that the line quality result is present, after a reception parameter is set so as to provide optimum line quality based on the result (step S33), the reception is started (step S34). In this case, the reception parameter consists of a modem rate, the equalizer coefficient of the various kinds of modem signals and automatic gain control voltage information (AGC), etc. When the reception is started, the line quality is measured in a line quality measurement part (step S35), and the communication is made while setting an optimum reception parameter by a measured result (step S36). When the communication is terminated (step S37), when the caller number is notified (step S38), the line quality result is stored corresponding to the caller number (step S39).
