The gases are trapped at the outlet from the silencer (12) in a purifier (1), and put in contact with a dense mist from an atomizer (2). The gases are cooled, the unburned oil neutralized and particles incorporated into the liquefied mist in contact with numerous metal strips (3) inside the purifier. The liquid is collected in a reservoir (15) and used to feed the atomizer via a pump A reservoir (10) of liquid is placed under the bonnet of the vehicle for example and can refill the reservoir (15). The device is a cylinder (1), preferably made of metal, which is connected to the silencer with a gap between the two to avoid the excessive heat of the silencer being transferred to the device. A piece of metal (4), preferably in the form of a funnel with its point forwards, is pierced with numerous holes and disperses the gas jet into the cylinder. A powerful electrically operated atomizer is placed outside the cylinder. The diffuser projects a dense mist into the device in which the gases are cooled and the particles and unburned oil are incorporated. The metal strips, preferably placed vertically in groups of five, are fixed at top and bottom to the body of the device. They receive the mist from the atomizer so it condenses on their surfaces and the water thus formed drops to the reservoir carrying the particles and unburned oil. The reservoir is in the bottom part of the cylinder to receive the liquefied mist and feed the atomizer. The water reservoir placed under the bonnet feeds water into the reservoir (15) in the device when the level in the device reservoir drops. Air is let into the upper reservoir through a valve so water can flow down under atmospheric pressure. |
