PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To thin the thickness of an optical equipment such as a camera as much as possible and to provide the optical equipment capable of completely shielding a cartridge loading port from light. SOLUTION: This optical device is provided with a cartridge chamber 9 in which a film cartridge 1 is loaded, a 1st setting means 7a for setting a film exit part 1h of the cartridge 1 in terms of direction to turn backward by a specified angle from a perpendicular direction to a photographing optical axis in a state where the cartridge 1 has been loaded in the chamber 9, and 2nd setting means 7b for setting the exit part 1h of the cartridge 1 in terms of direction to turn forward from the backward by the specified angle when the cartridge 1 passes through the cartridge insertion port 7c of the chamber 9. The thickness of the camera in a direction orthogonal to a film feeding direction, for example, in a photographing optical axis direction in the case of applying the device to the optical equipment such as the camera is minimized and the cartridge insertion port is completely shielded from the light.
