PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface roughness form measuring instrument which can perform various kinds of analyses and evaluations based on measurement data containing no unnecessary areas, but covering all necessary areas, even when an area to be analyzed and evaluated for surface roughness form has a complicated form. SOLUTION: The measurement data indicating the form of the rectangular area to be measured of a work are acquired by moving the contactor of a pickup on the surface of the work. A user designates an evaluating area necessary for analyzing and evaluating the surface roughness form of the area to be measured by plotting a frame on a picture. Consequently, various kinds of analyses and evaluations are performed on the surface roughness form of the area to be measured designated by the user based only on the measurement data of the evaluating area.
