PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device capable of reducing stress applied to a device constituting part (for example, a switching element) even when transferring to a no-load state such as removal of discharge lamp and disconnection of a filament from a lighting state. SOLUTION: A discharge lamp lighting device is composed of a load circuit 5 containing a discharge lamp La and a resonance circuit, the power source part 1 for outputting DC voltage and an inverter circuit 2 for supplying DC voltage output of the power source part 1 after being converted into AC high frequency voltage. An operating frequency f1 of the inverter circuit 2 at the lighting of the discharge lamp, an operating frequency f2 of the inverter circuit 2 at the activation of the discharge lamp and an operating frequency f3 of the inverter circuit 2 at the preheating of the discharge lamp, are larger than a natural resonance frequency fo by the resonance circuit. |
