PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prototype chip on chip structure, facilitating the conversion from a version of prototype to an ASIC chip, the final product. SOLUTION: The layout of an prototype ASIC is made, including required size and space for an ROM, the final product. The ROM 16 is not used in the test step of the prototype, and signals transferred to/from the ROM are connected to a prototype write/read memory which is flip-chip-bonded to the ASIC chip 10. The write/read memory required for testing the prototype and development is utilizable, without using the ROM on the ASIC chip, the final product.
