A single crystal nickel base superalloy, having high creep resistance, good micro structural stability and a density of /}8.7, has the composition (by wt.) 4.5-6 % Cr, 0-10% Co, 1-3 % Mo, 4.5-7.5 % W, 3.5-7 % Ta, 0.5-2% Ti, 0-2 % Nb, 5-5.6 % Al, 0-3 % Ru, 0-0.2 % Hf, 0-0.2 % Si, 2-3.5 % Re, 0-0.05 % Y, 0-10 ppm S and balance Ni, the sum of Al + Ti + Ta + Nb being 15-16 at. % and the sum of Mo + W + Re + Ru being 4.2-4.8 at. %.
