OPTICAL SWITCH AND OPTICAL COMMUNICATION DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch capable of enhancing the reliability while prolonging the life of a light source and capable of unnecessitating power source lines for generating optical signals and to provide its optical communication device. SOLUTION: This optical communication device consists of a transmitting part Tx which is provided with a light source 10 emitting white light having a wide wavelength band, an optical fiber 2 transmitting the white light from the light source 10 and an optical switch 35 which is arranged along the optical fiber 2 and a receiving part Rx 40. This optical switch 35 is provided with an optical filler 11S which selectively demultiplexes a prescribed different wavelength and also reflects the other wavelengths and a switch 21 which interrupts or transmits the light having the wavelength demultiplexed by the optical filter 11S. An optical filter 11V multiplexes the light transmitted by the switch 21 and the light having the other wavelengths reflected on the optical filter 11S to transmit them on the optical fiber 2.
