PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote shortening of an endoscope point. SOLUTION: An image pickup device body 16 which is formed by inserting a lead part 17 between an electrode of a CCD 21 and cover glass 22 is manufactured, e.g. by a TAB system and circuit boards 18A and 18B are connected to the part 17. And, the boards 18A and 18B bend the part 17 toward an image pickup surface 21S side to arrange at a point side, and signal lines 20 are connected to the boards 18A and 18B. According to this, because the connection position of the lines 20 to the boards 18 is shifted nearer to the point side than in the conventional practice, the length of the point part can be reduced. Further, the boards 18 can be formed integrally with an object lens system member 15 in front of the glass 22.
