PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earphone type portable telephone set capable of making a telephone call without being held on a hand by having a super compact shape so as to be mounted on the ear. SOLUTION: Push buttons at the operating part of the portable telephone set are made into key pads of, crossing-shaped, function (FNC) key 54, SEL (function) key 56, L (LEFT) key 58 and R (RIGHT) key 60, and elliptic START key 62 so that number input is enabled and further since a voice identifying part 36 and a voice synthesizing part 38 are provided inside and a function is provided for originating a dial call from a detecting signal based on the identified voice, the device is made compact and light in weight. An ear hook part 48 is provided so as to be pulled out of the main body of telephone set and to be housed in the main body of telephone set.
