PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mouse device which incorporates a function, which detects that the mouse device is held by an operator, and transmits only a coordinate movement signal intended by the operator to an information processor. SOLUTION: A main body 1 is provided with a transmission means 4, which transmits a signal to detect whether the operator is holding the main body 1 or not, and a reception means 5 which receives a return signal which is returned at the time when the operator is holding the main body 1; and the return signal is detected by the reception means 5 even if the operator is holding the main body 1 without contacting a prescribed part of the main body 1, it is judged that the operator is performing the operation, and the extent of movement is outputted at the time of movement of the main body. If the return signal is not detected by the reception means, the control is so executed that the extent of movement may not be outputted at the time of movement of the main body.
