TEMPLATE FOR DIGITIZING SMALL FORMAT FILMS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce flare during scanning by displaying format films in plural rectangular openings provided in a rectangular member and positioning format films on a platen of a flatbed scanner. SOLUTION: A platen 10 includes an opening 12 which can accommodate plural films to be digitized. The opening 12 is dimensioned so as to accommodate a dental film. An area 14 around the opening 12 is opaque for reducing undesirable flare during scanning. A template 10 is ideally of dull black finish. Two displays 16 are located adjacent at each opening 12 and make dental film arrangement easy to be appropriately oriented with a method that is matched to the actual viewing of a film images. The opening 12 is provided with a lip 18 which is for securely arranging a film in the opening, so as to prevent light from passing through the edges of the film and the edge of the opening while the film is being scanned.
