PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily confirm the residual amount of coins which are stacked at random by detecting the residual amount of coins with a signal from a coil means for generating lines of magnetic flux closing the opening of a tank means. SOLUTION: A nearly U-shaped core rod B, which is fairly large, is fitted to the center of the outer periphery of a tank 55. The center part of the core rod B is wound with a coil C. Lines M of magnetic flux generated by this coil C cross the opening at the top of the tank 55. When an oscillation circuit is placed in operation, the opening of the tank 55 made of resin is partially covered with the lines M of magnetic flux. As the quantity of metallic coins in the tank 55 increases or decreases in this state, the oscillation signal of the oscillation circuit varies in amplitude. The oscillation signal having varied in amplitude is detected by a detecting circuit and rectified by a rectifying circuit. Further, the signal is converted by a converter into data of a digital signal, which are sent to a signal processing unit.
