PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory controller which can be made small-sized by the reduction of the area of a semiconductor chip, etc., and flexibly adaptive corresponding to kinds of address generation. SOLUTION: An address data path part 13 which generates an address is a constituent element common to status generators which generate variation information on the address when the address is generated. According to the variation information generated by the status generators, control data stored previously in an instruction memory 13 are read out. According to the read-out control data, a register selection switch 137 selects one of addresses stored in a register (Reg10) or (Reg11) and a register selection switch 136 selects one of variation values stored previously in registers (Reg20 to Reg27). An adder 138 adds the selected address and variation value together.
