PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display device which allows the inexpensive creation of the ruggedness of a relatively gentle forward taper on a reflection layer by controlling the ruggedness of the ground surface of the reflection layer by an easy and simple process, obviates the mirroring of a background accordingly, is high in contrast, is capable of embodying bright display and may be relatively easily made uniform in display characteristics by taking the increased density of pixels into consideration and a process for producing the same. SOLUTION: Two insulative substrates 101, 111 are arranged to face each other and a thin-film diode 102 is formed on the one insulative substrate 101. This thin-film diode 102 consists of a lower electrode 103a connected to a scanning line, an upper electrode 105a in common use as the reflection layer 105b and a semiconductor layer or insulating layer 104 held between the lower electrode 103a and the upper electrode 105a. |
