PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reducing atmosphere furnace for heating a matter under reducing atmosphere in which energy is saved by using a heat storage type burner as a heat source. SOLUTION: A reducing furnace zone 4 provided with a direct fired burner 21 for producing reducing combustion gas in a furnace through combustion with air/fuel ratio of 1 or less is provided in series with waste heat recovery furnace zones 2, 3 for preheating combustion air through a heat storage body being heated by combustion gas by performing fuel combustion and discharge of combustion gas alternately through a heat storage type burner provided for at least a pair of heat storage type burners 12a, 12b.
