PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a part supply unit and a printed circuit board assembly system that detect junctions of electric parts mounted on the tape carrier. SOLUTION: Two tapes carriers for electric parts 62 are connected using mental connecting piece 100. A metal detector containing a pair of electrodes 166 provided in the path for carrying the electric parts 62 mounted on the tape carrier and a connection detecting circuit is provided on the electric part supply unit 32. When few remainders of electric parts 62 mounted on the tape carrier are left, new electric parts 62 mounted on the tape carrier are connected using the connecting piece 100. The connecting piece 100 reaches the pair of electrodes 166 and is electrically connected so that the connecting piece 100 is detected, thus the junction 103 of the electric parts 62 mounted on the tape carrier are also detected. Based on this detection, input of identification information on the connected electric parts mounted on the tape carrier and connection of the electric part 62 mounted on the tape carrier to be connected are judged and the remainders of electric parts are controlled. |
