PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of consecutive photographing in accordance with the movement of an object. SOLUTION: The moving direction and amount of an object are detected from an image in a photographing region by an image arithmetic processing sensor 40 as an image pickup element provided with an image arithmetic function and the image information is outputted to a control microcomputer 30. The control microcomputer 30 changes the interval of a release at the time of a consecutive photographing mode based on the output. Further, at the time of an automatic selecting/photographing mode, a single photographing mode and the consecutive photographing mode are automatically switched according to the movement of the object.
