摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristic and travelling durability without the change in the lapse of time over a long period by specifying the average thickness of a magnetic layer and the curling height in a specific length. SOLUTION: If the thickness of the magnetic layer 3 is thinner than 1.1μm, the surface electric resistance is increased to raise the dropout with the increase of the chargeability and the tendency thereto is more remarkable by repeating the tape travelling. And when the magnetic layer is thin, the quantity of a lubricant is relatively decreased to cause the deterioration of the travelling durability. Then, the problems are solved by controlling the thickness of the magnetic layer to >=1.1μm. And the travelling to allow the surface of the magnetic layer 3 to uniformly and stably contact with a magnetic head gap is enabled by controlling the curling height (h), which is the curved phenomenon in the longitudinal direction at the time of cutting the magnetic tape into 20 mm length, to -5<=h<=+5 mm to keep the excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristic and to prevent the generation of the tape damage.
