PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the function of a position detecting sensor from being deteriorated by providing a shielding member for shielding an optical path with a cleaning member for cleaning the light emitting surface of a light emitting element and the light receiving surface of a light receiving element. SOLUTION: The position detecting sensor 71 is attached to a main body side plate 26, and detects the position of a cleaning blade. The shielding plate 65 intercepts the optical path of the sensor 71. One side 65a nearly L-shaped of the plate 65 is nearly perpendicularly extended from a base part 64 to a 2nd gear shaft 59a, and the other side 65b nearly L-shaped is extended to the vicinity of the side plate 26 nearly in parallel with the shaft 59a. The edge of the other side 65b of the plate 65 is provided with a brush 69. The brush 69 is constituted by flocking polyester fiber on the front and back sides of the edge of the other side 65b, and comes in contact with the surfaces of the light emitting element 71a and the light receiving element 71a of the sensor 76 by the rotation of the plate 65 so as to remove toner, dust or dirt stuck to the surfaces thereof.
