PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery, small in change of capacity due to charging/ discharging cycles and satisfactory in discharge characteristics after it is left standing on the shelf, by coating surfaces of an active material for a negative electrode with metal elements of at least one kind or more selected from among nickel, cobalt, copper, gold, molybdenum and tungsten. SOLUTION: A carbon material, as a negative-electrode active material, of an average grain size of 20 μm is coated with a film of cobalt oxide by an electroless plating method, the carbon material is mixed with a binder of vinylidene fluoride(PVdF) at a wt. ratio of 92:8, and N-methyl-2-pyrolidone is added thereto and mixed therewith, thus a slurry-like solution is made. This mixed solution is applied to both surfaces of 10 μm thick copper foil, a solvent is dried, then the foil is rolled by a roller press, thus a negative-electrode mix electrode is made, which is cut to make a strap-shaped negative electrode having specified dimensions. A lithium manganese composite oxide having a spinel structure is used as a positive-electrode active material, and nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batter is obtained by a specified method. |
