PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a hydrogen explosion accident at the time of venting by suppressing hydrogen being generated in a large quantity in a reactor container to a flammable limit or less. SOLUTION: A hydrogen adsorbent container 21 where a hydrogen adsorbent with a metal oxide that can be easily subjected to reduction reaction with hydrogen as a main constituent is filled is installed outside a reactor container 1 and is connected to an upper dry well 5 and a suppression pool 6 in the reactor container 1 via pipes 24 and 26, thus constituting a circulation piping system. Hydrogen that is generated in the reactor container 1 is led from a blower 23, passed through the hydrogen adsorbent container 21, and is returned into the reactor container 1 from the pipe 26. By conducting the hydrogen adsorbent, hydrogen becomes water (H2O) due to the reduction reaction with the metal oxide and is eliminated, thus reducing hydrogen being generated in the reactor container 1.
