PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of the rotor of a reluctance motor and improve the reluctance torque of the motor by reducing the q-axis inductance of the motor. SOLUTION: In a reluctance motor, a rotor 10 is housed in a stator 1 which generates a rotating magnetic field and the rotor 10 is constituted by uniting magnetic steel sheet sections 11 each of which is constituted by laminating magnetic steel sheets having a bathtub curve-like cross section following the magnetic path from the stator 1 upon another with a boss section 12 made of a nonmagnetic material in one body. At the time of uniting the steel sheet sections 11 with the boss section 12, the united steel sheet sections 11 are arranged at regular intervals along the inner periphery of the stator 1, with each section being divided into parts by the number of poles, and magnetically isolated from each other.
