PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel hydrogen secondary battery improved in cycle life with a safe and easy process and at a low cost. SOLUTION: This nickel hydroxide secondary battery is provided with a battery element part consisting of a positive electrode supporting a positive electrode mix containing nickel hydroxide, a negative electrode supporting a negative electrode mix mainly composed of a hydrogen storage alloy having CaCu5-type structure and containing at least zirconium oxide hydrate, a separator interposed between both the electrodes, and an alkaline electrode. The addition quantity of zirconium oxide hydrate is desirably set to about 0.02-0.5 wt.% to the hydrogen storage alloy in terms of zirconium quantity. |
