PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk search method for realizing high speed access to a disk-shaped disk type recording medium. SOLUTION: The area of the disk 201 is expressed by a triangle making the length L of the outermost peripheral circumference of the disk 201 the base, and making the radius of the disk 201 the height. The area S viewing from a disk outermost periphery related to a track position 101 of a time address making a target along the direction of the height of this triangle is displaced to a rectangle whose one side is equal to the length L of the base of the triangle. The area of a part projected from the triangle in this rectangle is displaced to another rectangle, and that is piled on the original rectangle, and similarly, the rectangles are piled up until being converged. Whenever the triangle is piled up, the height of the rectangle is integrated, and the converged height is obtained. This converged height is subtracted from recording part whole width to be divided by track width, and the number of tracks from the center of the disk 201 to the target position 101 are calculated.
