The device comprises a central core (2) formed from flexible metal webbing connected, at one end, to a cylindrical end piece (3) and at the other to a cylindrical base (4) fitted with a small collar (5) that engages the outer surface of the material (8). The core is deformed radially by movement of the end piece, thereby forcing it into contact with the inner surface (7) of the material. A resin is applied to the interior via side holes (9) forming a chemical seal around the plug and the material.
