<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the transmission loss of an analog telephone line which is extended from a telephone station to a subscriber's terminal equipment, without help on the side of the telephone station. SOLUTION: In this method, signals provided with a prescribed frequency different from a reference frequency are sent out from a telephone station X to an analog telephone line C at a prescribed level as transmission signals for transmission of loss measurement. On the side of a subscriber's terminal equipment B, (a) the transmission signals for the transmission loss measurement sent out to the analog telephone line are received, (b) the level of the received signals is measured, (c) the level difference between the level and the prescribed level of the transmission signals for the transmission loss measurement and a coefficient corresponding to the diameter of the conductor of the analog telephone line are used, the result of multiplying them is obtained as the transmission loss for the analog telephone line to the signals provided with the reference frequency, and (d) the product is displayed.</p> |
