PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance initial speed of a projectile by increasing hydrogen concentration of high temperature generating gas for electrothermochemical gun or solid launching cartridge through addition of hydrogen occlusion alloy and decreasing the mean molecular weight of generating gas through temperature drop thereof. SOLUTION: When a switch 7 is turned on, a large current flows from a power supply 6 to an aluminum fuse 4 and since the temperature thereof is raised instantaneously, high temperature generating gas composed of aluminum oxide and water is produced through chemical reaction on the ambient water. When the high temperature generating gas breaks through a barrier wall 9 and enters into a mass separation chamber 10, hydrogen occlusion alloy 12 in the mass separation chamber 10 is heated up to high temperature and hydrogen gas is emitted. The hydrogen gas lowers the mean molecular weight of high temperature generating gas to increase the quantity of hydrogen gas significantly. Furthermore, the high temperature generating gas is cooled appropriately and acceleration of a projectile 3 is increased.
