The stopper assembly is used on a bottle that has a neck (R) carrying a screw thread (10). The stopper has a cap (B) with a base (14) and a cylindrical side wall (16) and an internal screw thread (18) formed on the internal surface of the cylindrical side wall. A pressure resistant seal (20) is included in the stopper assembly and this is shaped as a circular cup. An orifice (24) is formed in the cup. The internal surface (26) of the base carries a boss (28) that covers the orifice when the cap is in the closed position.
