The system has a cooling medium cooler(12) located in front of a charge air cooler(10) with regard to the direction of airflow, and the charge air cooler protrudes beyond the cooling medium cooler, at least in the charge air outlet area(36), so that overlapped(24) and non-overlapped(26) end face sections are created. The charge air cooler has a larger end face than the cooling medium cooler. The two coolers, with regard to the direction perpendicular to airflow, are offset in relation to one another.
