The electric motor has a rotor (1) with one or more individual, mutually separated permanent magnetic shells (3) mounted on a rotor core (5). The magnetic shells are fixed onto the rotor core by means of a non-magnetic arrangement, e.g. moulded plastic, on the outer surfaces of the shells. An Independent claim is also included for an application of the motor to driving a motor vehicle's steering aid, esp. of a motor car.
