The invention relates to a surgical drilling device for perforating the cranium, comprising a drill plate which can be positioned on the cranium and a drill guided in said drill plate. The aim of the invention is to improve the quality of drilling. To this end the invention provides for the drill to be housed in a support which is rotationally mounted in the drill plate such that the drill can be displaced in the direction of the axis of rotation and is non-rotational in relation to the axis of rotation, and for it to be possible to displace the drill against the force of a spring in the direction of the support.
