The testing method detects pinholes in a sealed packaging (3) using a DC source (6) providing an electrical field applied to the electrically insulating packaging foil (2) enclosing an electrically conductive medium, which is earthed via an electrode (5) and an attached earth wire with an associated current detector, for detecting a discharge current.
