Sealing ends of thin-walled esp. thermoplastic tubes

The end (20) of a tubular container, esp. a tube (10) made of thin-walled thermoplastic material, is heated while the tube is in a holder (18) and compressed to produce a transverse welded seam. The heating device has a laser (24) with the beam (26) directed at the circumferential tube wall and a rotation device which produces a relative rotation between the tube and the laser beam (26).
