Polymeric roller cage made from high temperature resistant polymer

The roller cage (50) for a roller thrust bearing has an annular disc (60) including a number of radially oriented elongated pockets (70) adapted to receive the rollers of the bearing. Each roller pocket has straight side walls and at least three pairs of roller retention tabs disposed on each pocket. At least a pair of tabs (75) are located on one face of the annular disc ad at least two of the pairs (80) are located on an opposite face of the annular disc and radially offset from the tabs (75). Independent claims are given for: (i) a method of molding the roller cage, and (ii) a mold for making the roller cage. Preferred Features: The design of the pockets with straight side walls and offset pairs of retention tabs allows the cage to be molded using two part tooling that can be withdrawn axially form the cage after forming.
