A creatine-containing formulation also comprises a neurotransmitter and alpha -liponic acid, plus optional ingredients selected from L-carnitine, coenzyme-Q10 and other physiologically active components. A creatine-containing formulation comprises: (1) enough creatine and/or a corresponding salt to provide a daily dose of 0.1-10 g; (2) enough of at least one neurotransmitter or neurotransmitter precursor to give a daily dose of 2-8 g; and (3) enough alpha -liponic acid to give a daily dose of 0.3-3 g. The following optional ingredients may be present: (1) enough L-carnitine or its salts to give a daily dose of 0.8-1 g; (2) enough coenzyme-Q10 to give a daily dose of 50-150 mg; (3) up to 40 wt. %, based on the entire composition of other physiologically active components; and/or (4) up to 20 wt. % formulating agents.
