<p>The present invention relates to methods of identifying compounds which are modulators of nuclear receptors, including retinoid, steroid, glucocorticoid, thyroid, vitamin D and peroxisome proliferator receptors comprising the steps: a) contacting a first polypeptide comprising a ligand binding region of said nuclear receptor with a test compound in the presence of a second polypeptide comprising a nuclear receptor-binding portion of an HMG protein; and b) detecting altered binding of said first polypeptide with said second polypeptide in the presence of the test compound as an indication that the test compound is a modulator of the receptor.</p> |
