The equipment for applying an elastic covering material(4) to a carrier part(2) includes a material clamping frame(3) and a stretching device(11) which grips the cover material between an edge(2c) of the carrier(2) and the clamping frame(3). A moving component(9) stretches the waste cover material section(4b) between the gripper(11) and the clamping frame(3) and simultaneously feeds a non-stretched section(4c) of the cover onto the carrier(2).
