<p>In order to reduce the thickness of a connecting portion of an inflatable belt and a tongue, a gas introduction pipe 16 is held by a pipe holder 18 disposed at a side of a tongue 10. A narrow portion 26 at the end of the inflatable belt 20 is passed through an opening 14 of the tongue 10, folded at the opening 14 to be superposed on and sewn together with a wide portion 28 of the inflatable belt 20. The rear end of the pipe 16 is inserted into an insertion hole 30 of the inflatable belt 20. The pipe 16 has an exhaust pipe 16e branched therefrom. Gas from an inflator is supplied into the inflatable belt 20 through the pipe 16. As the weight of an occupant is applied on to the inflated inflatable belt 20, gas within the inflatable belt 20 is discharged through the exhaust pipe 16e, thereby absorbing the impact. Caps are put on ends of the pipes, 16, 16e, respectively, to prevent foreign matter from entering the pipe assembly. <IMAGE></p> |
