PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording apparatus capable of certainly wiping off foreign matter from both of a nozzle forming surface and the protective surface thereof without leaving ink stripes and increasing blade pressing force. SOLUTION: The head wiping mechanism of an ink jet recording apparatus is equipped with blades and a blade protecting member 70. The blades are separated into a blade piece 64 for wiping a nozzle forming surface and blade pieces 65, 66 for wiping a protective surface by slits. Since the elastically deformable length L1 of the blade piece 64 is larger than the lengths L2, L3 of the upper and lower blade pieces 65, 66, ink or paper powder can be wipen off in such a state that the blade pieces 64, 65, 66 are pressed to the nozzle forming surface 32 and protective surfaces 22, 23 by proper force. |
