PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the holder capable of preventing the single crystal from being broken and falling and also inhibiting the breakage of a single crystal holding member from being caused, during the pulling-up operation of a heavier- weight single crystal. SOLUTION: This holder is provided with a pair of suspension jigs 17 having their respective clamping parts 18 by which recessed and projecting parts 7 formed between the seed crystal and the body of a single crystal are clamped and held in the process of single crystal growth, that comprises pulling up a seed crystal brought into contact with a raw material melt while rotating the seed crystal, wherein an attachment member 8 is placed at the front end of each of the clamping parts 18 of the pair of suspension jigs 17, swingably or rotatably around a horizontal shaft 19, and at least the surface of the attachment member 8 consists of a cushioning material to be brought into direct contact with the surface of the recessed and projecting parts 7 of the single crystal.
