PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a tape to be taken up certainly and smoothly regardless of the width of the tape. SOLUTION: Each of a first and a second take-up shaft 5, 6 which take up a narrow ink tape and a wide ink tape by kind is arranged so that a varying transfer torque is transmitted to the shafts 5, 6 in accordance with the width of the ink tapes using a first and a second friction clutch 14, 15. Consequently, when the narrow ink tape is taken up, it is taken up using the first take-up shaft 5 to which the rotation of a drive motor 12 is transmitted by the first friction clutch 14 whose transmitted torque is low, and when the wide ink tape is taken up, it is taken up using the second take-up shaft 6 to which the rotation of the drive motor 12 is transmitted by the second friction clutch 15 whose transmitted torque is high. Thus it is possible to take up the ink tape by the transmitted torque complying with the width of the tape and tape up the ink tape certainly and smoothly without fear that the ink tape might be cut, even when the width of the ink tape is different.
