PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying a crude spiroglycol by thermally dissolving the spiroglycol in a solvent, filtering the obtained solution through a specific filter in a heated state, and subsequently cooling the obtained filtrate to recrystallize the spiroglycol, capable of easily purifying the spiroglycol into the highly pure spiroglycol which is useful as a polymer raw material, etc., and has an iron content of a specific value or smaller. SOLUTION: This method for purifying a crude spiroglycol (concretelyβ,β,β',β'-tetramethyl-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5,5]undecane-3,9-diethanol) comprises thermally dissolving (A) the crude spiroglycol in (B) a 1-10C alcohol (preferably methanol, isobutanol, 2-ethoxyethanol, ethylene glycol, etc.), filtering the obtained solution through a filter having a pore diameter of <=1μm, and subsequently cooling the filtrate to recrystallize the spiroglycol, thus purifying the component A into the purified spiroglycol having an iron content of <=1 ppm.
