PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sandpit protecting apparatus capable of simply covering the sandpit or capable of storing a covering sheet, and keeps cats not walk on the covering sheet, small in storing place and having simple structure and inexpensive. SOLUTION: This sandpit protecting apparatus comprises a sheet 23 to cover the sandpit, a housing 17 comprising a barrel 30 which has a prismatic column like appearance and includes a winding mechanism to wind up or run out the sheet 23 and a run through hole formed on a part of the barrel to run through the sheet 23, and fastening metal fittings 13 mounted on both ends of the housing 17 to fix the housing 17 to the end of the sandpit. The sheet 23 consists of a base sheet 23a which is installed on the winding mechanism, and side sheets 23b, 23c bound to the sides of the base sheet 23a and folded in winding up and extended in the sandpit covering time by running out from the housing 17.
