HOLDER FOR HOLDING EDGE PART OF FIBER SUCH AS OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holder for holding an optical fiber edge part which can easily hold an adge part of the optical fiber and can be housed in a vacuum chamber and can rotate the end face of the edge part side by rotational force of a motor outside of the vacuum chamber. SOLUTION: When the end part of the optical fiber 9 is film-formed, the holder for holding the optical fiber edge part is housed in the vacuum chamber. Specified length of covering on one side of the optical fiber 9 is stripped to expose a core wire. The exposed edge part of the core wire is inserted into an optical fiber inserting hole of a ferrule 102 and the optical fiber 9 is held between coils of an optical fiber fixing spring 5 while making deflection and the optical fiber 9 is pressed to the ferrule 102 with the optical fiber fixing spring 5 as a supporting point. Thereby the edge part of the optical fiber 9 can be simply and stably held on a ferrule fixing plate 2 for a short time, and further, a thin film having a specified thickness and no mottle can be formed on the optical fiber end face by giving the rotational force to a rotary shaft 1 from outside of the vacuum chamber to rotate the optical fiber end face along a circumference thereof.
