PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic foamed body containing many foams, which are independent of each other and has uniform particle size. SOLUTION: This inorganic foamed body is formed by the foaming caused by the reaction of a foaming agent composed of egg shell powder with an acidic phosphate based binder aq. solution. The inorganic foamed body is formed through a foaming process and a drying process. In the foaming process, the foaming agent composed of the egg shell powder is mixed with an aq. inorganic composition containing the phosphate based binder as a principal ingredient. Calcium carbonate, which is an essential component of the egg shell powder, and phosphoric acid of the phosphate based binder react with each other by the mixing to produce a phosphate and to generate carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is generated from the egg shell powder as nucleus in this way to generate many foams. After the foaming in the foaming process, drying and solidifying are executed in the drying process to obtain the objective inorganic foamed body.
