PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a die coater which can stabilize the condition of adhesion of coating to a metal web during transferring and can form a more uniform coating film in spite of fluctuation and changing of coating condition. SOLUTION: A die 1 wherein lips 1B and 1C are arranged so as to be close within a radius below a backup roll 2, an offset roll 13 separated from the lips 1B and 1C and arranged below them, an offset roll control mechanism which can control the angle of overhanging formed by inclining a path line for coating the metal web W moving upward to the backup roll 2 side by controlling the position of the offset roll 13 in the horizontal direction to the lip 1B and 1C side, a mechanism for transferring horizontally the die 1 and a means for detecting the pressure of a coating are provided. The offset roll control mechanism makes the angle of overhanging larger when the detected pressure of the coating is elevated more than the reference value and makes the angle of overhanging smaller when the pressure of the coating is lowered more than the reference value.
