PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate problems of conventional electrostatic ink jet recorder, i.e., blur or strike due to extremely low print density, deterioration of color reproduction range or recording speed due to extremely high print density, and cost increase due to high temperature fixing process. SOLUTION: In an electrostatic ink jet recorder where ink is flown by applying a recording signal voltage between a recording electrode 1 and a counter electrode 2, angle of ink meniscus at the forward end of the recording electrode 1 is set at 0-65 deg. or the distance from the forward end of the recording electrode 1 is set at 0-1500μm. Consequently, an arbitrary optical density can be attained in the range of 0.8-2.0 resulting in an optimal color, response or fixing properties.
